GLASGOW is facing a new wave of security firm wars after an arson attack at a site guarded by one of the city's most notorious gangsters.

Bobby "The Devil Dempster, boss of RuchiirSecurity, was. said to be. furious after the housing estate in ' Glasgow 's Fossil was torched.

Sources warned that Dempster, one of the few men to survive a feud with crime godfather Arthur Thompson, would seek revenge..

The 65-home development was set alight at lam yesterday. Nine partially-built terraced homes were burned out.

Damage will run into tens of thousands of pounds and delay building work by several months. Dempster's firm was protecting the site on Bilsland Drive for North Glasgow Housing Association.

A guard was on patrol at the time but could not stop the fire attack. It is feared it could spark some form of retribution. An insider said: "It looks like someone is trying to muscle in on Bobby Dempster's business.

Messed

"While he is bending over backwards to make himself a respectable businessman, anyone attacking his site will not get offlighdy.

"He is not a man to be messed with and something will happen,"

The insider added: "Something was used to make this fire catch quickly.

"The security guard knew nothing about it. Before he knew it, the whole place was up in flames.

"It was a deliberate fire and an accelerant was used to make sure it spread quickly." The building site was cordoned off yesterday and guarded by police who are treating.the blaze as suspicious...":.

One of Dempster's former partners; is Lewis "Scooby" Rodden, who was shot by a hit man in an Amsterdam bar in 2001

The attack came just six weeks after Rodden split with Ruchill Security to set up his own business.

Rodden survived the hit and Dempster denied being behind the attack.

The torched homes development is-' funded by Glasgow City Council in partnership with North Glasgow Housing Association.

A spokesman for the housing association said: "This is very disappointing, especially for the people who were preparing to move into the houses in. the next few months.

"We are waiting for police to com-' .plete their investigations before we can get on site and assess the full scale of the damage."

A police spokesman said: "We received areport at lam of newly built houses on fire. It was extinguished and an investigation is underway."

Ruchill Security have numerous contracts for Glasgow building sites.

Dempster is friends with another notorious crime boss, Jamie "The Iceman" Stevenson, who was jailed this month for money laundering.
