Glasgow City Council have come under fire after a young mum and her sick kids are having to cope with rat infestation.
Thirty-one-year-old Martine Little and her two children have had their tenement home infested with rats for nearly three weeks.
The Possilpark mum said: “I came in one day and nearly died when I saw a giant rat in the hall.
“I screamed and opened the front door to run out and the rat jumped onto the landing.
“I was shaking like a leaf but thought it was a one off, but later on that day I heard a loud buzzing and found a dead rat at the side of my pc, it was surrounded by blue-bottles.
I contacted the Housing then got in touch with the Environmental Health. They came out and put traps and rat poison down.”
But Martine claims things have got worse and the rats are breeding like wildfire.
The mum was so distraught that she delivered a dead rat to North Glasgow Housing Association’s offices.
Their spokesperson confirmed an ongoing problem with rats in the area but said that Glasgow City Council’s Environmental Protection Services (EPS) had not highlighted it as an “emergency”.

But the young mum worries that her kids or dog may touch the lethal poison or hurt themselves on array of traps left by council workers to try and eradicate the problem.
And Martine was horrified to find another rat in daughter Shelby’s bed.
North Glasgow Housing Association’s spokesperson added: “We are aware of concerns relating to vermin at the property and are assisting colleagues from Glasgow City Council’s Environmental protection Services as they try to address the problem.”
Both Shelby , 6 who suffers from eczema and 12 year-old Reece are now terrified to go into their house. Martine said: “My daughters don’t want to come home, Shelby and Reece, who has asthma, want to stay at their Granny’s house but they can’t o that all the times.”
